We are a non profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals.  We depend totally on the donations and kindness of the people in the area that we serve.  We provide a number of services that can not be found at just any shelter.  We pick up stray animals, offer a low cost spay/neuter program, have live traps for rent, sell county dog licenses, offer lost and found services, and animal cruelty investigations as well as many other public services.  If you are interested in employing any of our services, feel free to call us 7 days a week.  We are dedicated to saving as many animals as we can.  Our goal is to find all of our animals loving and permanent new homes that they can enjoy while enriching the lives of the people who adopt them.

Trinity! Our Miracle Kitty!

Trinity is a young female cat that came to be with us on Thursday evening, December 10th.  We were contacted by the police in the Hegin's area who had responded to a call.  The initial call was for shots fired.  Upon arrival a neighbor had found this sweet little girl, Trinity.  She had been shot in the front right leg.

The entire time you examined her leg, she purred and kneaded, even with all the pain.  She is just that sweet.  She is also very lucky, the bullet only passed through her leg.  There is a small bullet fragment that was located in her shoulder noticeable on her radiographs.  She is extremely lucky that the velocity of the bullet did not continue through her leg and into her chest.  It is a miracle that only her leg was damaged.

But that leg was severely damaged.  The bone fractured beyond repair.  There was only one option to save this girl and that was amputation.  Doctor Corin Mediate of Mountain Shadow Veterinary Hospital performed the surgery Saturday.   Trinity is recovering well and still purring.

Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA is a no kill shelter dedicated and committed to providing whatever care these "kids" need, no matter the cost.  Trinity is definitely glad for that but we need your help.  In order for us to continue to provide the care needed for these animals, donations to our medical fund are always needed to help fray the cost of these expensive, life saving surgeries.  The medical fund also provides the funding for medication, spay/neuter surgeries, regular veterinary visits, routine testing, and vaccinations for our pets.  Please help us continue to save them!  Please make a donation to help.  We can not do what we do without your help.  Donations can be made through the paypal link below and deposited directly into our medical fund, or you can always mail in a donation.  Please note in the memo section of the check "medical."  Your continued support is always appreciated, not only by us, but by the animals you help us save like Trinity.
